All Silk Sisters styles are valuable basics in your wardrobe. They are based on long-lasting, cross-seasonal designs that work regardless of season, trend or occasion, and that you can mix and match with your existing wardrobe year after year. Our designs are timeless classics that distance themselves from the widespread fast-fashion system.
Conceived by women, created by women, made for women — SILK SISTERS is a label that celebrates femininity in its very name.
Our collections are manufactured in small factories in Portugal and the Czech Republic that we know personally. We make sure that all female employees have regulated working hours, are covered by social insurance, receive fair wages and can thus support their families. We attach great importance to fair working conditions and support the female forces involved in the creation of our blouses and dresses. Because the “Sisters” in our name stands for the female power behind every single design: women determine the Silk Sisters blouses from the design to the finished model, which you can buy from us in the online shop or from our numerous retailers.
Every Silk Sisters blouse and dress is a product with a lot of heart and soul, created by women for women — and you can feel it when you wear it!
What makes a garment a favourite? Is it a beautiful, high-quality fabric, the perfect fit, beautiful colours, pretty details, good combinability? Probably all of these things together. But if you really feel good in your blouse, then knowledge about its origin and the individual factors of its creation also play an important role. Where do the raw materials come from, who processed them and under what conditions?
With our fashion label Silk Sisters, we pursue a holistic, honest approach and open communication.
Sustainability is not an arbitrary term for us — it is our way of thinking, our culture, our lifestyle.
We pay attention to the ecological footprint of our products and select our producers according to environmental, resource-saving and social criteria. We only use natural and biodegradable fabrics such as organic cotton, European linen, pure silk or vegan fabrics like lyocell or modal. Of course, we use plastic-free and recyclable packaging.
Mel Nienaber, founder and designer of Silk Sisters: “It fills me with gratitude every day that I can combine two fundamental aspects in my work: creativity and sustainability. This is a gift for me as a designer that I want to share with all my sisters.”
